Made by "Joni" of the Stetson China Company, and perfect for serving Sunday dinner, this handpainted Dixie Dogwood serving platter will add a cheery touch to your table. Produced sometime between 1946 and 1966 when this pattern was discontinued, Dixie Dogwood showcases a chartreuse green dogwood flower with red-tipped petals, black stems, and deep green leaves.
This oval platter measures 11-3/4 inches by 9-inches and is marked, in green underglaze, "Ovenproof Dinnerware Handpainted Underglaze" inside a semi-circle formed by two intertwining ribbons. A paintbrush crosses the t in "handpainted," and the words "Made in USA" are at the base of the twined ribbons.
This platter shows some wear and the expected surface scratches consistent with normal use. There is a 1-millimeter nick on the bottom edge and minimal non-discolored crazing visible when the light hits at the right angle.
