This lovely vintage pink Foley Bone China teacup and saucer is decorated with gold oak leaves and acorns. On a pale salmon pink ground, both the teacup and saucer are decorated with an oak leaf and acorn motif in gold. A single leaf with one hanging acorn circles the saucer rim in five equidistant places, while three clusters circle the outside of the cup. The inside top of the cup has a matching oak leaf motif on a snow-white background. The scalloped rims of both pieces are edged with a double band of gold, and the handle and foot of the cup are drenched in gold. The white cup well of the saucer is outlined with a narrow band of gold.
There is a patina on the gold and there are some marks within the gold that resemble water spots. There is a pinpoint glaze pop on the cup opposite the handle. There are no chips or cracks, and the oak leaf and acorn designs are clear and intact.
The cup measures 2-3/4 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches in diameter at the rim on a 1-7/8 inch diameter foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/4 inches in diameter.
The pattern is #3294 made by Foley China between 1948 and 1963. Both pieces are stamped with the black Elijah Brain backstamp that reads "EB Foley Bone China, Made in England." 18-50 flanks the script EB and a griffon tops the mark. Foley China Works was established in 1850 and purchased by Elijah Brain in 1885. Foley became Coalport China in 1963.
