The high quality of Heisey glass is evident in the many details of this sparkling Number 142 Cascade Crystal Candlestick! The center candleholder is perched atop an S-shaped arm with curled ends that are irresistible to touch. The lower side arm stretches nearly horizontally and curls up at the end to hold the candle cup. The tallest arm has the most detail, with a beautiful upward curve that gracefully splits into a rising curled branch and a lower branch that curls around on itself before splitting again to form two tight curls at the finish. The three candle holders each have an eight-sided rim above eight small thumbprint indentations. A circular disc serves to attach the three-armed candleholder to the circular foot. The curving shape is especially alluring for a romantic table setting or lovely for a wedding.
Originally made by Heisey from 1933 to 1957, this design was reissued by Imperial Glass when they purchased the molds after Heisey closed. Imperial discontinued their production in 1968. There is no mark.
This candlestick measures 7-inches tall at the highest candle cup, and 4-1/4 inches high at the lowest. It stands on a 5-1/2 inch diameter base. The arms measure about 7-1/4 inches across.
There is one possible scratch or straw mark in the curve of the tallest arm of one of these, but this mysteriously disappears when turned for closer examination. Other than expected minor surface scratches caused by normal use, or an occasional tiny bubble in the glass, there are no condition issues.
Two are available, but please note the substantial size may necessitate shipping separately.
