The engraved, gold encrusted rim on this pair of sparkling Hand Blown Lead Crystal Water Goblets is called Georgian Gold on Stem 86 by Lotus Glass Company. The decoration is a luxurious 1-1/4 inch wide band of burnished gold with an intricately detailed abstract motif resembling pairs of mythical creatures separated by a three-lobed emblem like a sheaf of wheat. The scrolls and swirls are so plentiful that the design defies description with mere words. The exclusive Lotus gold-encrusting process was unparalleled. The bell-shaped bowl of each goblet is perched on a brilliant stem with a collar of glass near the top, followed by three glass beads and finished with a slender, smoothness that feels elegant in your hand as it ends in the circular gold-rimmed foot.

Each tall goblet measures 8-inches tall and 3-5/8 inches in diameter at the rim, perched on a 3-inch diameter foot.

Though there is no mark, Lotus Glass catalog reprints pictured in the book Lotus: Depression Glass and Far Beyond by Dean Six show both the extremely popular Georgian Gold decoration of the 50s and 60s, and the hand-blown lead crystal stem 86, but not together, which may indicate these were made shortly after Lotus purchased Glastonbury in 1960.

There is very little wear on the gold, just enough to give them the patina of age. There are no chips or cracks.
