Here is a lovely dessert plate, cup, and saucer with pink roses and gold trim made by Royal Tara Bone China, Ireland. This beautiful Irish Bone China three-piece dessert set has a unique fluted panel shape with embossed draping at the rims. Each piece is decorated with sweet pink roses and other pink flowers on each panel of the cup and the saucer and on every other panel of the plate. The pink flowers are accented with gold leaves, and delicate gold scrolls from a vertical line to separate each panel. The outer rim of each piece, as well as the foot and handle of the cup are also gold trimmed.
The fluted teacup is 3-1/2 inches in diameter, 4-1/4 with the handle, and 2-5/8 inches tall. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter. The rimmed dessert plate measures 8-1/4 inches in diameter.
Each piece is stamped in gold with a circular mark of three crowns surrounded by “Royal Tara, Fine Bone China, Made in Ireland.” There is also a gold artist’s mark on each.
This mark was first used by Royal Tara around 1942 and based on the shape and style, this set was likely produced in the 1970s. Royal Tara closed its doors in Ireland in 2003.
As vintage pieces, they are not perfect and show minor surface scratches. A handful of faint utensil marks are on the plate, but any gold loss is truly minimal, and each piece has a lovely shine. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing.
