This Pair of Chinoiserie Enameled Candlesticks were made in China by Toyo. Tapering up from a square base, each of the four sides is enameled with an incised continuous floral motif of large roses in shades of lavender, pink, and mauve, with abundant leaves and matching buds. The textured flowers are on a background of soft pink, and accented with black lining around the base, the candle cup, and the top rim. The underside of the top rim has an enameled floral banner motif in matching colors.
Each candleholder measures 8-5/8 inches tall. The rim of the candle cup is 2-3/8 inches in diameter, and the square base is 3-5/8 inches across.
Made in China by Toyo, circa the 1980s, each has a red oval stamp with the word “Toyo” preceded by Chinese Characters, and followed by “Made in China.” There is also a worn number on one that may be 2D, and possibly 08 on the other. Other than some minor wear near the edges, and expected shelf wear on the bottom, there are no condition issues.
