This lovely Paragon Bone China purple floral Teacup and Saucer is charmingly named Spring Melody. The scalloped teacup and saucer are decorated with a 1-inch band of purple violets, interspersed with yellow and white blossoms with appropriate green leaves, trailing buds, and purple accents on a burgundy ground. The center of each piece is adorned with a matching floral cluster. The rims of both cup and saucer are trimmed in gold, and the handle, foot, and outside of the cup are also gold decorated.
The teacup is 3-7/8 inches in diameter and 2-1/8 inches tall; the foot of the cup is 1-7/8 inches in diameter. The saucer is 5-5/8 inches in diameter.
The Double Warrant Royal Arms backstamp in gold reads: "Paragon, By Appointment to HM the Queen & HM Queen Mary, Fine Bone China, England Regd." (Both Royal Warrants were issued by the respective Queens in the 1930's.) The pattern name “Spring Melody” in script is at the bottom of the mark. There are also artist’s marks on each piece. This mark was used by Paragon circa 1939 to 1949.
