Enjoy serving your guests with this Stetson Rio hand painted round serving platter in the deep pink Meadow Rose pattern! On the Rio shape, this vintage platter was made by Stetson China between 1946 and 1966. Stetson China was once one of the largest manufacturers of hand painted china. "Meadow Rose" features two large hand painted, deep pink flowers, one in bud and one in full bloom, backed by deep green leaves on sweeping brown stems.
This round platter, also known as a cake plate or chop plate, measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter, 11-1/2 with the handles. The backstamp, in green underglaze, has run together in firing and reads "by Rio, Individually Hand Painted Under Glaze, Stetson China Company, Lincoln, Ill." Unfortunately, there is a chip on the back of each handle; one 1/8-inch, the other 1/4-inch. Neither shows from the top, though the larger one does show from the side. (Please see the photos.) Otherwise, there are only a few normal surface scratches that do not mar the design.
