Offered here is the beloved Enameled Blue Bow #F4547 Bone China Teacup and Saucer by Crown Staffordshire, England. Garlands of sky blue bows with trailing ribbons in raised enamel encircle both the cup and the saucer. The ribbons are dotted with pink roses and greenery, and a green vine with a single deep blue flower dangles from the center of each bow. Matching tiny blue flowers and leaves dot each piece above the ribbons. The rims, the foot of the cup, and the handle are all trimmed in gold.

The teacup is 3-3/8 inches in diameter and 2-3/8 inches tall, and the foot of the cup is 1-3/4 inches in diameter. The saucer is 5-5/8 inches in diameter.

The mark is stamped on the saucer in green under the glaze. It reads "Fine Bone China/Crown" arched above a crown over a cartouche with "Staffordshire/England" below. "Est. 1801" flanks the crown. The number F4547 is handwritten in red below the stamp and there are artist's marks in red and gold. The mark on the cup is slightly different, stamped in a darker green over the glaze. This mark is partly worn away, and the “Est. 1801” and “Made in” are completely missing, indicating that the cup may be from a slightly earlier vintage than the saucer. Variations of this Crown Staffordshire Mark were used from the 1930s to 1985, this set likely dates to the 1970s.

This sought-after vintage teacup was certainly used and loved. There are about eight pinhead-sized nicks along the back edge of the saucer. These do not show from the top and are fairly insignificant. There is a raised area that runs along the inside edge of the saucer for about an inch and a half, as though the bone china swelled in firing. This is difficult to see, but can easily be felt as a little hill on the edge. There is some gold loss around the rims of both the cup and the saucer and on the handle, reflecting normal and frequent use. There are also a handful of minor surface scratches, and the bottoms of both show shelf wear. These imperfections collectively sound much worse than the overall look of the set. The enamel design is still bright and clear, and the beauty of this hard-to-find teacup and saucer set is well-preserved. Blue Bow is normally priced much higher, and here the condition is reflected in the price.
