From the Royal Albert Flower of the Month Series, here is the Bone China Violets Teacup and Saucer for February. A lovely gift for a February birthday, anniversary, or for a collector, the Montrose shape cup is decorated with sprays of dainty purple violets accented with green leaves and tendrils on both the front and back. A matching spray of violets inside the top edge of the cup frames the word "February" in gold. Each bunch of violets is backed by a pleasant touch of aqua. The inside rim of the cup and the rim of the saucer each have a ring of green leaves alternating with a dot of the same green. The saucer has three matching sprays, one larger than the other two and covering about 1/3 of the saucer rim. Both cup and saucer are trimmed with gold on the edge, and the cup foot and handle are also trimmed in gold.
This Bone China cup is 2-3/4 inches tall on a 1-7/8 inch diameter foot. The handle is about another 1/4 inch above the rim. It is 3-3/8 inches in diameter with another inch for the handle. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep.
Each piece is marked with a miniature of the violets motif followed by the name "Royal Albert" in purple, "Bone China England" in green, "Flower of the Month Series" in a concave semicircle, the backstamp is finished with the word "Violets." This design was made by Royal Albert China circa 1970.
There is no damage to this beautiful set, but there is a factory flaw in the form of a pinhead sized dollop of extra porcelain on the side of the handle.
