Each of these Mt. Pleasant Black Amethyst Glass Sherbets comes with a matching saucer. Made during the Depression Era by L.E. Smith, this beautiful black amethyst glass is so opaque that it is highly reflective, causing every speck of dust to be magnified in the photos. The scalloped Mt. Pleasant pattern has some variations. These stemmed sherbets have eight scallops separated alternately between one and two points. Some of the points are more rounded than others.

The matching saucers have ten scallops separated by points also alternating between one and two points. While the number of points is the same on all, some saucers have very pronounced points, while others have much shorter, more rounded points. The backs of the saucers also vary. Only one has the familiar raised double shield in four places around the backside. That one and two others have a five-sided rayed center bottom on the back. The remaining underplates have a raised ridge along the rim of the underside with no rays or shields.

One sherbet is 4-1/2 inches in diameter at the rim, and 2-5/8 inches tall. The others are 4-1/4 inches across the rim, and 2-7/8 inches tall. The circular foot is 2-3/8 inches diameter on all. The matching underplates range from 6-1/4 to 6-3/8 inches in diameter. The center cup well is 2-3/8 inches in diameter

Mt. Pleasant was made in black by LE Smith from the 1920s until 1934. There is no mark.

There are the usual expected surface scratches, and perhaps a tiny pit or two, particularly on the saucers, or underplates. Other than the expected flaws characteristic of Depression Era Glass, such as bubbles, straw marks, creases, or other irregularities, there is no other damage.

There are two more available, but each sherbet has a very small chip on the rim between the points. None of the points are chipped. These remaining two are available with purchase at 50% off.
