On the pretty Montrose shape, this Royal Albert Bone China Teacup and Saucer set features the Redwing Blackbird from the Woodland Series. You can almost hear his spring song as this cheeky Redwing perches on the branch of a pink-flowering tree, its leaves a blend of golden yellow and soft gray. The Redwing design decorates the front of the cup with a smaller matching branch on the back and inside the rim of the cup. The matching saucer has one Redwing arrangement and two smaller branches. Both the cup and the scalloped saucer are trimmed with 22K-gold around the fluted rims, and the teacup foot and handle are also gold-decorated.
This Bone China teacup is 2-3/4 inches tall on a 1-3/4 inch diameter foot. The handle is about another 1/4-inch above the rim. It is 3-1/2 inches in diameter with another inch for the handle. The matching saucer is 5-5/8 inches in diameter and 1-inch deep.
Made by Royal Albert China between 1980 and 1987, the back stamp is a color miniature of the pink flowering branch motif followed by "Royal Albert/Bone China/ England" then “Woodland Series” in a concave semicircle and “Redwing” in pink.
There is a porcelain bump on the underside of the cup as shown in the photo. Any wear on the gold is truly minimal, and there are no other condition issues.
