This sweet Artist Signed blue Forget-Me-Not Plate was Hand Painted on a Hutschenreuther Bavaria blank during the early 1900s. The small plate is decorated with a hand-painted garland of five-petaled blue forget-me-not flowers with pale yellow centers. Large clusters of the flowers are at opposite sides of the plate. Each cluster is layered with lighter blue, almost white, enamel flowers and flanked by a pair of soft green leaves. Garlands trail out from each cluster to nearly circle the plate with individual blossoms on wisps of delicate green stems. A baby blue background rims half of the plate fading to near white with touches of palest pink on the remainder of the plate. The plate is signed “Lukin” on the front and a fine line of gold is along the edge.
This romantic coupe-shaped plate is 6-5/8 inches in diameter.
It is marked "Favorite Bavaria" in green script, an export mark for the US market, used by the C. Hutschenreuther Company in Bavaria, Germany during the early 1900s. It is also hand signed by the artist “Lukin."
The edge of the plate is uneven with old smooth indentations beneath the gold, indicating these were factory imperfections. There is also slight wear on the gold rim. There is a small, shallow chip on the underside of the foot that does not impact stability. There are no other condition issues.
