Pictures just can't capture the vibrant beauty in the rich layers of 22-Karat gold scrolls and swirls on green in this pair of Culver Glass On-the-Rocks Tumblers in the Toledo pattern! One look and it is easy to see why ornately decorated glassware by Culver is among the most sought-after of Mid-Century barware. Each swirl is an excellent example of Culver's secret process for layering gold upon gold in different textures. Graceful and artistic S-curves swirl on the distinctive watery-green background that is classic Culver. The lower half of each Hollywood Regency glass is covered with this gold-on-green design, and a 1/8-inch band of gold scrolls encircles the rim.
Each straight-sided Old Fashion cocktail tumbler measures 3-3/8 inches tall and 3-1/4 inches deep.
The Toledo pattern was made by Culver during the 1950s to 1970s. Each tumbler is signed in gold “©Culver Ltd."
It is difficult to find vintage Mi- Century Culver glass without wear, and this pair is no exception. Each of the two glasses show wear on the gold, particularly on the gold band around the rim. Still, there is so much textured gold that the loss doesn't detract much. Most of the gold on each glass is shiny and retains the signature Culver texture. There are no chips or cracks. Due to the delicacy of the textured gold, all Culver Glass was recommended by the manufacturer to be washed by hand.
