This beautiful pink and gold filigree teacup and saucer set was made by Regency Bone China, England. The cone-shaped cup is widely fluted and scalloped with clearly defined panels around the top. A 1-inch wide band of pale pink covered with an intricate gold floral overlay circles the cup-well of the saucer and the inside of the cup. More gold filigree rings the creamy off-white inner rim of the teacup and the matching rim of the saucer. and the scalloped rim of the saucer. A multicolor floral nosegay decorates the center bottom of the cup and the center of the saucer. The handle and scalloped foot of the cup are gilded, and a narrow band of gold rings the outside of the cup. The scalloped rims of both pieces and the cup ring on the saucer are also trimmed in gold.
The unusually shaped teacup is 2-1/2 inches tall with an unusual two-lobed handle. It is 3-5/8 inches in diameter tapering to a 1-7/8 inch diameter foot. The saucer is 5-3/4 inches in diameter.
Both pieces are stamped “Regency” in gold script followed by "Genuine Bone China Made in England." Regency China Ltd. was founded in Longton, Staffordshire, England circa 1953.
There is a pinpoint-sized glaze pop where the foot of the cup joins the body, and there are several places along the backside edge of the saucer where the glaze does not come up to the rim. There are also places along the rim of the saucer where the gold has worn. Any smudges in the photos have been removed. There are no other condition issues.
