Offered for your consideration is this seldom-seen "Star" Mid-Century, round Butter Dish by Federal Glass. An in-mold starburst design is the basis for Federal's pretty Star pattern. The plate for this butter dish has the five-pointed star in the center, with five rays flaring out between each point of the star. The matching dome cover has the raised star on the top, with the rays reaching down the sides of the dome. The handle on the top is also a small, 1/2-inch tall, five-pointed star. Though Star was also made in yellow, the butter dish was only made in crystal, and is difficult to find.
The underplate of this butter dish is 6-1/4 inches in diameter. The domed cover is 5-1/2 inches in diameter at the bottom, and 2-3/8 inches tall.
Made by Federal Glass from the late 1950s to early 1960s, there is no mark.
As is common in vintage glassware, there are expected minor surface scratches. The speck of dirt visible in the photos has been removed, and there are no other condition issues.
