The Naturalistic-Style artist M. Perl hand painted exquisitely detailed blackberries, foliage, and blossoms to adorn the top portion of this early 1900s mug. Blending beautifully in soft shades of purples, greens, yellows, and whites, the artistic fruit is in striking contrast to the black ground of the main portion of the mug which is delineated with a 1/8 inch wide sharp angled line of gold. Two gold berries hang from the top of the band with a pair of gold leaves at the bottom in three places - on each side and opposite the handle. The unusually shaped handle is completely gilded.
This Favorite Bavaria tankard measures 6 inches tall and tapers in diameter from 3 inches at the top to 3-7/8 at the bottom. The handle is a generous 1-3/4 inches out from the mug.
This tall mug is marked "Favorite Bavaria" in green script, a mark used by the C. Hutschenreuther Company in Bavaria, Germany. It is also hand signed by the turn of the century American Porcelain artist "M Perl."
This exquisite vessel is in very good condition with very little wear.
