The rich cobalt blue ground of this Lindner Kueps U.S. Zone Germany demitasse cup and saucer is the perfect backdrop for the lavish gilt trim. "Munchner Kindl," "Munich Child," the Munich Coat of Arms, also in gold, decorates the inside of the cup. Numbered 157, this gorgeous set makes a statement of simple elegance in the years following World War II.
The cobalt and gilt saucer measures 4-1/2 inches in diameter. The matching cup diameter is 2-7/8 inches; 3-3/4 with the handle, on a 1-1/2 inch diameter foot. It is just 1-3/4 inches tall.
The backstamp is a Sunburst over cloud formed from the L in "Lindner/Kueps Bavaria, US Zone Germany/Echt Cobalt 157." The saucer has the same mark but worn. The word Echt translates to "genuine."
Made by Lindner, Kueps, Bavaria between 1946 and 1949, this set is in very good condition with some very minor wear on the gold.
