Offered here is more fine Aynsley Bone China in a three-piece set - the Luncheon Plate, Teacup, and Saucer in the discontinued Bramble Time pattern. The scalloped rim of the luncheon plate is covered in six Blackberry Bramble vines made up of ripe berries in deep blue and purple with variegated green and shiny gold leaves. The scalloped rim of the saucer and the outside of the teacup are also covered in the same Blackberry Brambles. With the high-quality feel that Aynsley is known for, the textured brambles are highlighted with flourishes of curling tendrils and wisps of pale leaves tucked within the vines. Each snow-white bone china piece is embossed with a line to match the shape of the scalloped and gilded rims. The rim, handle, and foot of the cup are also trimmed with gold.
The elegant teacup measures 3-inches tall and 3-1/2 inches in diameter at the smooth rim. It stands on a 2-inch diameter foot. The matching saucer is 5-7/8 inches in diameter and the luncheon plate measures 8-1/8 inches in diameter.
Each piece is stamped with a red crown flanked by “Est. 1775” above the Aynsley Banner, followed by “Made in England/ Fine English/ Bone China.” This mark was used by Aynsley during the 1960s and 1970s. The pattern name “Bramble Time” is stamped in large script below the mark.
There are several porcelain bumps in the bottom of the cup, like grains of sand under the glaze. There is also a faint stain about 1/2-inch long on the inside where the handle is attached. There are a couple of small surface scratches caused by utensils on the luncheon plate that can be seen when held in the right light. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing to this exquisite set.
What a beautiful way to add to your existing collection or start a new one!
