Captivating Moderne Classic Yellow and Platinum Art Deco Sugar and Creamer by Indiana Glass! Decorated in beautiful Art Deco style, these octagon-shaped pieces are frosted white on the inside with a highly reflective trumpet-shaped platinum overlay on the center front and back rib of each. Two narrow platinum horizontal lines cross the front and back near the bottom of the platinum design, and the tops of the angled handles are also layered with platinum. Each foot is frosted yellow on the underside, with matching platinum trim on four of the ribs of the foot.
The creamer measures 5-inches tall to the top of the handle and 4-3/4 inches to the rim. It is 3-3/4 inches in diameter across the top, nearly 5-1/2 inches across the handle and spout. The octagonal foot is 2-5/8 to 2-7/8 across. The matching sugar measures 4- inches in diameter, 6-1/8 inches across the handles, and 4-1/2 inches tall, 4-3/4 inches to the top of the handles.
Moderne Classic was made by Indiana Glass circa the 1930s to the 1940s.
There is a 1/4-inch shallow edge chip on the front of the foot of the creamer directly under the spout. There is a 3/4-inch chip on the underside of the foot of the sugar. This sounds worse than it is. It is not readily noticeable from the top and does not impact the stability of this piece. The sugar also has a circular ding right in the center of the top. The platinum is still intact over this spot, but it is noticeable. There is minor wear on the platinum trim. Because it is so unusual to find this pattern, I am offering this set despite the flaws. The condition is reflected in the price.
