A beautiful Art Nouveau style pink poppy motif forms a garland around this lavishly gold trimmed porcelain plate by Haviland & Co. of Limoges, France. Each flower is exquisitely painted in blush pink on trailing moss green vines with realistic elongated leaves. Each pink blossom also has petals of shiny gold. The detailed slender stems even depict the fine red bristles found on live poppy stems. This fine porcelain plate has an embossed rope design around the scalloped rim that is generously trimmed in brushed gold.
This plate measures 9-3/4 inches in diameter.
Made by Haviland & Co. between 1894 and 1932, it is stamped in green underglaze "Haviland/France." There is also a red Haviland & Co. Limoges mark over the glaze, indicating this plate was factory decorated.
As in most vintage pieces, there are normal, small surface scratches, and there is minor wear on the gold. There are also a couple of tiny glaze pops on the surface, only seen in the right light. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing to this exquisite plate. The sticker residue visible in the photos will be removed.
