This lovely little plate made by Peerless, Bavaria is Hand Painted with lifelike Forget-Me-Nots and signed by the artist McKee. A ring of dainty clusters of blue forget-me-nots is meticulously painted by hand on a background of palest matte green. The flower bouquets are connected by raised shiny gold enamel ribbons and backed with touches of appropriate greenery and hints of blush pink. The McKee signature is tucked in among the blossoms. This pretty porcelain plate has an embossed and scalloped edge trimmed in blue.
This small plate measures 6-1/8 inches in diameter.
The blank was made by Peerless, Bavaria, Germany. Little is known about the company, but the style indicates it was made circa the early 1900s when painting on white china blanks was in fashion.
The back is stamped in green with an archer on horseback above the words “Peerless Bavaria.” There is also an impressed 5 on the back. The front of the plate is signed by the artist, McKee.
There are a few minor utensil marks on the front of the plate. There are also some faint smudges that may wash off, but I didn’t want to risk damage to the pretty hand painted enamel design, so I will leave cleaning to you. There are no chips or cracks.
