This glass cheese compote in bright Fired-On Orange dates to the 1920s and early 1930s. The solid color dish has orange color fired on the reverse side, down the stem, and the top side of the foot. This reverse technique creates a shiny interior with the outside of the piece having a matte finish. The orange is slightly darker in some places.

Each bright orange compote measures 5-1/8 inches in diameter at the rim and stands on a 3-inch foot. Each is 3-1/4 inches tall.

Originally meant for cheese as part of a cheese and cracker set, this shallow dish works well as a holder for a pillar candle, as shown in the last photo. Imagine grouping the two available together with candles of different heights!

Other than minor surface scratches consistent with use, there are no condition issues. There is no mark.
