These gorgeous early 1900s Antique Gold Encrusted French China La Cloche dinner plates by T&V Limoges, France are just perfect for a backyard wedding! Two gold encrusted and textured bands encircle the rim and are joined by intermittent diagonal gold lines that flow over the raised and embossed cream colored band between. The 3/4-inch wide inner rim has a detailed floral and scroll design, while the narrow band around the edge is decorated with an alternating cross-hatch and flower design. A 1/4-inch band of cobalt blue is between the wide gold band and another narrow band of gold around the center. The center of the plate is white, in contrast to the cream-color, and features a multicolor floral motif surrounded by two very narrow gold bands.
Each French China plate measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter.
Made by Tressemann and Vogt, Limoges, France between 1907 and 1919, one plate has the seldom seen green bell and banner mark that reads “TV” inside the bell with “Limoges” in the bracket above it. The banner reads “French China La Cloche.” “Limoges France” is stamped above the La Cloche mark. A second plate has the T&V in rectangle mark followed by “Limoges France.” The remaining four plates are simply stamped “Limoges France.”
All six plates are free of chips and cracks. One plate has several small dark red spatters in the gold, one has a small pinhead-sized dark spot in the creamy band below the rim, and a third has a tiny indentation in the creamy band that could be a glaze pop. All six have expected shelf wear on the back and minor surface scratches, but very little wear in the gold.
Resplendent with abundant detail, these plates would make stunningly elegant chargers to frame your dessert or salad plates at your holiday gatherings!
