This Aynsley Bone China Simcoe #7410 Gold on Cobalt Blue Teacup and Saucer will be the jewel of your teacup collection! The widely sought-after intricate gold encrusted Simcoe pattern by Aynsley is done on a deep cobalt blue ground. Offered here on a scalloped, D-handled cup and saucer, the heavily detailed and textured gold encrusted banding around the rim is only outdone by the intricate filigree bands of gold below. The outside of the cup, as well as the foot and handle are also gold trimmed.
The cup is 2-1/8 inches tall, 2-1/2 at the top of the handle, and 3-3/4 inches in diameter across the top with another inch for the handle. It stands on a 1-3/4 inch diameter foot. The matching saucer is 5-5/8 inches in diameter.
Made by Aynsley circa 1939, the cup is stamped with a green crown above the Aynsley Banner, followed by "England." The words "Bone China" flank the crown. The pattern name, "Simcoe," is stamped in gold block letters, and the number 7410 is hand written above the name. The matching saucer also carries the crown mark and pattern name, with "Est. 1775" flanking the crown, and "Bone China" in script below.
There is a rosy patina on the gold of the handle, but there is otherwise very little wear. There are no other condition issues.
