Offered for your consideration is this romantic American Beauty Three-Piece Dessert Set by Royal Albert Bone China. The set includes the Teacup and Saucer with a matching dessert or pie plate. A spray of large American Beauty roses in colors shading from pink to red decorates each piece. The Countess shaped cup features a spray of two full-blown roses backed by greenery and accented with gold leaves on the front. A pair of pink buds reaches out from the spray to wrap around the cup. A single matching blossom is on the back and another adorns the inside of the cup. The roses on the saucer and plate match the cup precisely, and all three pieces are scalloped and trimmed with brushed gold.
The teacup is 3-1/4 inches in diameter, 4 with the handle, and 2-3/4 inches tall. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter. The rimmed dessert plate measures 7-1/4 inches in diameter.
The back stamp for this long-lived pattern features the rose floral spray to match the pattern, with the name "American Beauty" in plum script followed by "Royal Albert Crown China England" in pale green. Many of the pieces have the same mark with the words "Crown China" changed to "Bone China." This mark was used by Royal Albert China from 1941 to 1998, though the Crown China stamp for this pattern dates to as early as 1927.
As in most vintage pieces, there are normal, small surface scratches and only very minor wear on the gold. Each saucer and plate have a bit of a bump along the back edge caused by kiln marks. There are no other condition issues.
