Here are the irresistible Dresden Flowers by Schumann, Germany in a delicate nut dish with a pierced rim and a portrait center. This small detailed bowl has an intricate reticulated rim, a striking light blue inner band, and a Colonial couple depicted in the center. The reticulated scalloped rim is ringed with gold. Gold trimmed lattice work alternates with multicolor flowers that adorn the lines and intersections in gorgeous detail. The outside of the bowl also has touches of gold trim and a single tiny flower in three places around the rim. The finishing touch is a narrow ring of gold around the foot.
This lovely nut dish measures 3-3/8 inches in diameter and 1-1/8 inches deep.
It is marked with the orange Schumann Crown and Shield backstamp, followed by the words Schumann, Germany. A gold "33" is also stamped on the back. This mark indicates this bowl was made circa pre-1940s.
Aside from minor wear on the gold, there are no condition issues.
