A large modern style pink incised flower bud curves across the front of the creamer and both sides of the sugar on this set in the Prelude pattern from Stangl Pottery. The flower is accented with green sepals and leaves, and the back of the creamer is decorated with matching greenery and stem, but no flower bud. The inside of both pieces is glazed brown, and the inner rim is lined with green to match the flower sepals.
The creamer is 3 inches in diameter, 5 inches across the spout and handle, and 3 inches tall. The matching sugar is 3-1/2 inches in diameter, 5-1/2 across the handles and 2-1/2 inches tall.
This pattern was made by Stangl from 1948 to 1978, and each piece is marked "Stangl Pottery Trenton NJ" enclosed in an oval. "Prelude" is stamped beneath the oval. There is also a brown line across the bottom of each.
The cover to the sugar bowl is missing, but that makes this hard to find set very affordable. There is also a scratch beneath the left leaf on the sugar. The dark spot on the handle of the creamer was dirt and has been removed.
