This Royal Albert pattern is named Val D'or, which means Valley of Gold. It makes a statement of simple elegance in snow white bone china on the lobed and fluted Montrose Shape, the only decoration being the gold trim on the fluted rims, the foot, and the high handle of the cup.
Each Bone China cup is 3-3/8 inches in diameter, 4-1/4 with the handle; and 2-3/4 inches tall, the handle brings it up to 3-1/8 inches. The matching saucer is 5-3/8 inches in diameter.
Each piece is marked with a Gold Crown followed by "Royal Albert" in block letters, "Bone China" in script, "England" in smaller block letters, and a curved "Val D'or" in script. Though the pattern was discontinued in 2009, this mark was used in the 1960's and 70s indicating the sets were made early in the pattern's history.
