Hammersley & Company is known for creating some of the finest English Bone China and this sugar and creamer in the Morgan's Rose pattern is a lovely example. In this pattern a realistically shaded deep pink rose decorates one side of both the creamer and open sugar, with a matching rosebud on the sides of the sugar and the front of the creamer. The opposite side of each piece has an equally realistic yellow rose. Each scalloped piece is trimmed in gold, as is the exquisite high handle of the creamer and the four feet on each piece.
The Bone China Creamer measures 4-3/4 inches long by 1-7/8 inches wide and 2 inches tall to the top of the creamer, 3-1/8 to the top of the handle. The matching open sugar is 3-7/8 inches by 2 inches by 1-7/8 inches tall.
The back stamp in green underglaze is a crown with two oak leaves and an acorn growing out of the top, circled by the words: "Bone China, Hammersley & Co." "Made in England" under the circle completes the mark. There is also a small hand painted pattern number "133." This pattern was made by Hammersley circa 1939 to 1982.
Each piece has only some minor wear on the design that can be seen in the photos.
