Own a piece of Jackson, Michigan history with this striking First Methodist Church Commemorative Plate by Homer Laughlin! This First Methodist Church Commemorative Plate was made by the Homer Laughlin Company circa 1955 and decorated by World Wide Art Studios of Tennessee.
Eggshell Theme, a Homer Laughlin pattern in rich ivory, features an embossed rim of fruit and grape vines with a thin band of gold trim on the edge. World Wide Art added the striking black and white transfer of the First Methodist Church, Jackson, Michigan.
This stunning plate measures 10 inches in diameter. It is stamped in green underglaze with the Homer Laughlin Wreath, and reads, "Eggshell Theme, Homer Laughlin, Made in U.S.A. J 55 N 8." This "55" in this mark refers to the years of manufacture. More importantly, the mark is somewhat obscured by a full description and history of the church up through 1956 which is stamped on the back in black overglaze. "World Wide Art Studios," with a palette, "A division of Atlas Crystal Works, Inc., Covington, Tennessee" completes the identification.
The only flaw is very minor wear on the gold trim.
