This Tiny Toby Character Jug from Royal Doulton depicts 'Arry. 'Arry is 'Arriet's husband, both fruit sellers working from their cart. He wears a tan colored coat over a yellow shirt and a splash of a red tie. His matching tan cap has the darker brown bill cocked to the side, and the stub of a cigarette pokes out of his mouth.
One of the Original Twelve Tinies, 'Arry, number D6255, was designed by Harry Fenton and was produced between 1947 and 1960. These Tiny Character Jugs were difficult and expensive to produce because of their small size. Painting was done by the artist balancing the tiny jug on the end of his little finger. Production was stopped during the War and resumed in 1947 until the Tinies were discontinued in 1960. Sometimes called Toby mugs, this tiny, porcelain character jug measures 1-inch in diameter (add 1/4 inch for the handle) and 1-3/8 inches tall.
The backstamp bears the circular "Royal Doulton Made In England" around a four-lobed square. There are no condition issues.
