This creamer and covered sugar set is Authentic Vernon Ware in the Ultra California pattern in Carnation Pink. Ultra California colors were marketed as rich half-tones, and the pattern is characterized by its darling scrolled handles that look as though they are upside down. The finial of the sugar lid has a matching scroll at one sloped end. The solid glossy carnation pink color is reminiscent of California sunsets.
The wide-mouth creamer measures 2-7/8 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter, 7 inches across the handle and spout. The matching sugar is 3-1/4 inches tall with another inch for the cover, and four inches in diameter, 5-1/2 across the handles.
The backstamp is Circular "Ultra California/Made in U.S.A." enclosing "Authentic Vernonware/Vernon Kilns Calif." Ultra California was made by Vernon from 1937 to 1942.
There is no damage, though the glaze was missed under the lip of the creamer in the manufacture. I'm so happy you stopped in to Maggie Belle's Memories! Please email your questions and comments.
