You'll recognize the prized Royal Albert quality in this Lavender Rose Fine Bone China Teacup and Saucer. The Lavender Rose pattern has sprays of beautiful pink shading to lavender roses accented with lavender and green leaves and olive green tendrils. Both the front and back of the Montrose shape cup are decorated with these roses, with a matching single blossom inside the top edge. The saucer has three matching sprays, one larger than the other two and covering about 1/3 of the saucer rim. Both cup and saucer are trimmed with gold on the edge, and the cup foot and handle are also trimmed in gold.
The measurements of the beautiful cup are 2-3/4 inches tall, with the handle about another 1/4 inch above the rim, and 3-3/8 inch diameter across the top (with another inch for the handle.) It stands on a 1-3/4 inch foot. The matching saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter and curved up to 1-inch deep.
The detailed and colorful backstamp reads "Royal Albert, Bone China, England" in brown, topped by a miniature of the rose flower on the cup and saucer, followed by "Lavender Rose" in lavender script, then "©1961, Royal Albert Ltd."
This backstamp was used from the 1960s through the 1980s, though this pattern was made by Royal Albert China from 1961 until it was discontinued in 2009.
There is a tiny 1/16-inch shallow circular nick out of the side of the handle just under the gold at the top. There is also some minor wear on the gold rim when seen in the right light. This is still a lovely set.
