Here is the large Mayfair Depression Glass Scalloped Fruit Bowl in pink by Hocking Glass. The Mayfair pattern, nicknamed "Open Rose," is an in-mold design of an old fashioned rose pattern in alternating wide-ribbed vertical panels.
This gorgeous scalloped fruit bowl serves equally well as a salad bowl, and measures 12 inches in diameter across the top, tapering down to 4-3/4 inches at the rayed foot, and about 5 inches deep.
This beloved and unmarked pattern was made by Hocking Glass from 1931 to 1937.
This sized bowl is beautiful with fruit salad or even potato chips! There are manufacturing bubbles in the glass, and there are a series of surface scratches horizontally along one of the ribbed panels. These look darker in the photo than they are. Similarly, there are a series of small dark pinpoint sized pits like popped bubbles at the top of one of the scallops. These are easiest to see on a white background, and they can be felt. There are similar, but lesser signs of wear around the rim, but they truly do not detract from the beauty of this bowl. There are no chips or cracks.
