Offered for your consideration is this Princess Green Depression Glass Hat Shaped Bowl by Hocking. Hocking’s Princess is recognizable by the unmistakable and beloved molded curtain and tassel motif draping down the sides from the rolled rim. A larger medallion of an all-over alternating design of tassels and feathers decorates the bottom of this hat-shaped bowl.
This lovely bowl is 9-1/4 inches in diameter at the rolled rim, tapering to a stylized square bottom at 3-1/8 inches on each side. It is 4-inches deep, though its sleek hat-shape gives it the illusion of being deeper.
Green Princess was made by Hocking Glass from 1931 to 1935. There is no mark.
There is an extra pinhead-sized bead of glass on the underside of the rim and there is a hook-shaped crease in the bottom that occurred during the manufacturing process. The bowl will need a good soak and gentle scrubbing in warm, soapy water to remove the bits of dust and debris from the many indentations in the intricate pressed pattern. Other than the expected flaws characteristic of Depression Era Glass, such as bubbles, mold seam roughness, or other irregularities, there is no damage.
