Simple and elegant, this Miramar Mini Covered Sugar was made by Flintridge China, of California. Finished in solid, glossy, dove-gray, the curled handles, raised foot, and knob-type finial are coated with highly reflective platinum trim. The interior is creamy white. Dinner plates in this pattern have a rose decal in the center, but no rose was used on the sugar bowl.
The small sugar bowl is 3-inches tall to the rim, and the sugar cover adds another 3/4-inch. The foot is 1-1/8 inches in diameter and the bowl is 5-inches across the handles. The opening is 2-1/8 inches and the cover fits precisely.
The bowl is stamped with the Flintridge standing lion pair holding a shield with the letter F surrounded by a circle of the words “Flintridge China Made in California U.S.A.”
Miramar was made by Flintridge from the late 1940s and discontinued by 1972.
There is a barely noticeable 1/2-inch dark smudge along the shoulder of the bowl that seems to be under the glaze. This almost looks like a reflection in the photos. There are no other condition issues.
The last photo shows the sugar with the creamer I have listed in this pattern. These are not a pair, as the creamer is full-sized and the sugar is a mini, but they do go nicely together.
