This breathtaking Teacup and Saucer is in the lovely Serena pattern by Royal Albert Bone China. Definitely one of my favorites, Serena features lavish garlands of deep pink roses backed by pale green foliage and interspersed with yellow sunflowers, buttercups, and smaller purple and blue flowers. Golden ferns and foliage scattered all over give the design a chintz-like feel. The plentiful flowers cover the outside of the cup and encircle the rim of the saucer. The inside of the cup is ringed with a matching band of golden ferns and a small nosegay of matching blossoms front and back. Gold trim finishes the scalloped edge of both pieces. The foot of the cup has a double narrow gold band, and the fancy handle is also gold-trimmed.
The Malvern shaped cup is 2-5/8 inches tall, almost 3-inches to the top of the handle. It is 3-5/8 inches in diameter at the rim and stands on a 1-7/8 inch foot. The matching scalloped saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
Both pieces are stamped with the pink Royal Albert Bone China Crown mark that reads "Royal Albert/Bone China/England” followed by “Serena” in blue above the registration number, “Reg.No.839329” in pink. The pattern name and registration number on the saucer are blurred but still readable.
Serena was registered by Royal Albert China in 1942 and discontinued in 1977.
There is slight wear in the transfer on the pink and purple nosegay inside the cup, There are no other condition issues.
