Offered here is a sweet demitasse cup and saucer by Royal Albert Bone China in the White Dogwood pattern. Here on a white ground, branches of white dogwood flowers on deep green leaves with yellow accents decorate the front and back of the diminutive cup. The larger branch is on the front when the handle is on the right, while the other side has a smaller spray of matching flowers. The matching saucer is decorated with a large branch of blossoms that wraps around approximately 2/3 of the saucer. The subtly scalloped rims of both pieces are decorated with brushed gold, and the handle and foot of the cup are also gold-trimmed.
The cup is 2-5/8 inches tall, 3 at the handle, and 2-1/4 inches in diameter at the rim, 3-1/4 across the handle. The foot of the cup is 1-1/2 inches in diameter. The matching saucer is 4-7/8 inches in diameter.
This pattern was made by Royal Albert China during the 1940s. The Dogwood motif is echoed in color in the mark with a banner across a small spray of flowers that reads "White Dogwood" followed by "Royal Albert Bone China England." There is a numeral 16 stamped on the saucer and 37 is stamped on the cup.
There is a series of tiny glaze pops just under the gold rim of the cup, on the side visible when the handle is on the left. There are also some stray gold lines on the back side of the rim of the saucer. Aside from expected shelf wear on the foot, there are no other condition issues. The tinges of red in the photos are reflections.
