This Cobalt Blue and White Coalport Bone China Basket and Garland #5012F Teacup and Saucer is simply exquisite! The intriguing floral and basket pattern on this fine quality teacup and saucer consists of intricately detailed cobalt blue flower garlands connecting hanging baskets spilling over with flowers and entwined with crescent-shaped swags. The garlands drip with tassels of flowers that reach toward the center of each piece where a triangular matching medallion rests. The inside of the cup also has a single flower garland around the scalloped rim. The rims of both the cup and the saucer, as well as the foot and the handle of the teacup are trimmed with gold.
The teacup measures 2-inches tall, 2-3/4 to the top of the handle, and 3-7/8 inches in diameter across the scalloped rim with another inch for the handle. It stands on a 2-inch foot. The matching saucer is 5-3/4 inches in diameter.
The cup is stamped in green underglaze with the Coalport crown with the words Coalport bone China, Made in England 1750." There are two small artist's marks, one in gold and the other in blue. The saucer has the same crown mark in blue with the pattern number "5012F" in gold. There is also an illegible incised mark on the saucer. This mark was used by Coalport post-War until about 1960.
There is a 1/8-inch shallow, oval-shaped, rough spot with a dark outline along the rim opposite the handle. It is truly not much of a distraction on this exquisite set, though it is visible. It is shown magnified in the photo. The cup still "pings" beautifully. Other than expected minor wear on the gold, there are no other condition issues.
