This exquisite Queen Lace Crystal Kenyan African Wildlife Decanter has an engraved Lion and a Giraffe on opposite sides of the decanter in a natural setting with trees and grasses. The two remaining sides are decorated with the same etched trees and grasses and a few small flying birds. Since the company opened in 1947, each piece of Queen Lace Crystal is made by hand near the Black Forest Region in Germany using a Renaissance technique called Copper Wheel Engraving. This technique is considered one of the most difficult to master. Very similar to the current Kenyan Wildlife Series, this particular decanter is retired and was made between 1959 and the 1970's. In a vintage square shouldered shape, the decanter is topped with a magnificent crystal ball-shaped stopper and finished with a ground and polished bottom at each of the four corners that would rest on the bar or table.
This crystal decanter measures 6 inches tall to the top of the neck, 7-3/4 inches with the stopper, and 3-1/2 inches square. A well crafted, hand made, and numbered piece, the only mark is "79" etched in both the bottom of the decanter and the stopper. Its only sign of use is very minor wear on the bottom.
