This small "English Ivy" fruit bowl with matching underplate was made by Paden City Potteries. The added detail of the golden vase is what makes this pattern so special. The pattern, Ivy, or "English Ivy" consists of green English ivy vines trailing from a golden urn-shaped vase, with more green ivy on the opposite side of the piece. The edge is gold trimmed.
This mid century pottery bowl measures 5-1/4 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep. The matching bread and butter plate measures 6 1/4 inches in diameter, and is a perfect under plate.
Each piece has the Paden City circular mark in black of a kiln with a banner, and reads "The Paden City Pottery, Made in USA." "J 52" completes the mark and indicates the date of manufacture as 1952.
There is a 2 mm shallow edge chip on the rim of the bowl, with minor surface scratches and some wear on the gold. The plate has a small 1mm chip on the back edge that is not visible from the front. The gold trim on the plate is in good shape with very little wear.
