This is a French prisoner of war made stationery within a sewing straw box, 19th Century.

This is a "one of a kind" incredible 19th century Napoleon, French Prisoner of War straw work box. It is showcased by the hinged lid that highlights a decorated river scene with boats and classical buildings. The back, sides and front are covered in landscape vignettes. The interior opens with a mirror to the lid and an amazing lift-out glazed lidded tray inside a box with compartments for pen and ink, personal stationery, and wax and seals. Once the inner box is removed, you will find a breathtaking scenery built into the array of lidded compartments, pin cushions and three drawers that open to the inside of the open space. The beauty and colors of this over 200 year old hand made box are amazing.
The dimension are 13 cm high by 37.5 cm wide by 26.6 cm deep.

The origin is France circa 1800s. The materials are straw, glass and other natural substance. Condition is excellent with exception of glass in stationery box shown in photograph. Glass is replaceable. If you want it done prior to receiving it we can make arrangements but it then would becomes a final sale.
