What a find! This is a Thornhill Brass pin cushion made to hand from a chatelaine. The edge hands the pins and comes with some of the original pins. This piece is often mistaken as an Avery needlecase but there are no markings anywhere. I was able to see a copy of a Christmas advertisement from Thornhill in 1883 that showed this piece for sale.
