Great historical find. These belonged to Veteran MSgt James "Jimmy" B Davenport. He was one of the lucky Pearl Harbor survivors during WWII. He continued his service in the United States Marine Corps after the war and purchased this outstanding USMC dress saber in Japan during his Korean War service. The quality and balance of the blade is magnificent, and it still shines like a mirror. The sword and scabbard are both named to James. The sword measures 33 1/2" overall. The hilt has been polished over the years, exposing a beautiful rose-colored bronze / brass alloy. The blade has never been sharpened. The leather-wrapped scabbard is extremely well-made also, and has survived in beautiful condition. The original leather-wrapped handle is also in beautiful condition. His ID is dated January 14, 1952, which I will include with the sword's purchase.
Please excuse reflections in the photos.
