Antique Majolica Leaf Plate With Strawberries, Blossoms, And Vines. This antique majolica plate dates from the late 19th century, and is shaped like a large leaf. It measures 9 1/2" across, and 10' top to bottom. The background color is a mottled tan, brown, and green, and the plate has an overall design suggesting the vanes of a leaf. Superimposed is a vine with strawberries, blossoms, and leaves, in colors of green and dark pink. The back of the plate is a mottled tan, brown and green. On the front of the plate are three tiny white dots or stilt marks. In one of our pictures we have indicated with arrows just where the stilt marks are located on the plate. When the plate was fired in the kiln it stood on three pyramid shaped stilts which were used to raise the plate off the floor of the kiln. It is always nice to see these marks, as it is another indication of age. This is a large plate in excellent condition, and would make a handsome addition to any collection.
