Very simple and elegant - this describes this lovely "pear" shaped hand-carved cornelian shell brooch - set in a 14KG "double-effect" bezel: the cameo is surrounded by grommet-design; then surrounding all is a nice twisted-rope trim. On back is a bail to pass a chain thru. Gold is stamped "14KG" on back.

Cameo measures 30 MM x 24 MM. The carving is of a Roman lady, in profile, her hair in a simple snood. Cameo dates from the early part of this century. It was set in its present bezel during the 1970's.

Piece is in immaculate condition.
