Antique Five Drawer Painted Table Top Chest with porcelain knobs. This is a late 19th-early 20th Century chest in pine under red and yellow sponge painted finish. This came out of neighbor’s garage at a yard sale. I cleaned it up from a ton of dust and grime. Since the surface was rather dull I Butcher waxed the painted surfaces. The chest has machine cut nails and screws holding the knobs. The chest is 18 ½” tall, 8 ¼” wide and 13 ¼” deep. On one side at the top there is a smear of white paint and there are a couple of white paint drops on the top, possibly from not being covered when there was painting going on around it. I did not try to remove the white paint as the surface was already worn enough. The thin unpainted back board has a split in it going down about from the top about 9” and the base is unpainted and scraped. The bottom drawer has the remains of a paint spill in on one corner. Other than what I just mentioned the chest is in good to very good condition. The chest weighs 9-10 pounds. Contact paper has been added to the inside of the drawers.
