A very impressive vintage bronze owl on a marble circular base by Milo of Paris. Created from an original concept of the famous Francois Pompon. Signed Milo and stamped by the J.B Deposee Parisian foundry. The bronze figure "Smart Owl on marble-base" is an impressive Animal Bronze made and signed by Milo after an idea of Francois Pompon. The owlet is known as a symbol of keen wisdom. This impressive bronze statue is standing on a round marble-base, in upright position and the view is fixed to the horizon.
The artist Francois Pompon was born on May 9, 1855 in France. The sculptor moved to Paris and worked as an assistant for Auguste Rodin for three years. He made his breakthrough at the age of 67 by creating "L'Ours Blanc", a huge polar bear sculpture. If you are interested in seeing the original sculpture, you can either visit the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris or the Museum of Luxemburg. Those three museums each houses one example. Throughout his career, Francois Pompon created many animal sculptures, such as this owl.
