A vintage ( first half 20th. century ) sterling silver ( 925 ) coated , we believe, model of a mother bear and her cub. It is not a piece of solid silver - rather, it is, judging by its weight , a coated resin model, for example. This piece is not stamped ' 925' for sterling silver but it comes from a Swiss lady's collection which we purchased and , although not visibly stamped, certainly belongs to her collection - her pieces were all stamped for 925 sterling and bear a maker's mark : 'G W' ( the G being centred in a letter W - please see the other exhibits in our shop. Probably, a European piece we believe. As there are no official hallmarks it is not possible to make a definite attribution as to the country of origin. Quite a beautiful piece.
Size : L. 11 cm. ( 4 21/64" ) x B. 8.5 cm. ( 3 11/3 " ) x H. 9 cm. ( 3 15/64" ).
Weight : 434 g. ( 15.3 ounces ).
Condition : very good - note, the silver plating has been chipped off ( minute pieces ) in a few spots ( e.g. the cub's nose ) but to the human eye of no consequence, we believe!
A ' metal' sculpture of a mother bear and her cub.
